A Heartfelt Thanks From Pacific Theatre

Each year, our primary audience appeal for support comes during our Christmas giving campaign. Usually, our campaign is tied to a bustling Christmas show – the wonder of Narnia or the story of Scrooge, or a magical wintry story like John Cariani’s Almost, Maine. The lobby is full of patrons with hot chocolate and dripping umbrellas. Families assemble and disseminate strings of tickets at the door. The staff and artists stay late for a drink in the green room after a two-day show.

When we launched this year’s campaign, our goal was $50,000 dollars, the same as in 2019, but we knew that we would not see any of our patrons or artists in person. We had recorded Christmas Presence At Home and were excited to share it with our audience digitally, but premiering a show online was new to Pacific, and we were nervous about how it would be received.
Our fears were unfounded. Over seven hundred people watched the premiere on Youtube with us, laughing and clapping and joining us in the chat from across continents and countries to share in a tradition and tell us they cherished Christmas Presence and our musicians and storytelling as much as we do. Since then, many more have downloaded the show to watch it at home with their families. Your generosity has been unparalleled.

This year, we exceeded our Christmas Campaign goal by $7000. We cannot thank you enough for your grace, your generosity, and your warmth – it has sent us into a new decade of theatre-making with renewed vigour, hope, and the resources to make more work that will reach you, wherever you’re calling from.
