how the world began | audience response

Like a passing rainstorm, How The World Began is gone from our stage, but it made a big impression on you. Here’s a sampling of the audience responses we received during the run of the show.

Your support of live theatre helps us bring these worlds to life on stage – our work continues with Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop from May 20 – June 11. Audience Responses to How The World Began

This show was a complete package in every way – a great script, perfectly cast, guided by a director who knew how to ride the swells and lulls of human interactions, completed by an animated set, lighting and soundscape. – William

A wonderful venue, wowed by our local talent of great actors, well-written script with well-picked actors to present it. One of those plays that has you thinking bout it after the curtain closes.Karen

This was truly a moving and beautiful play! I left the theatre feeling convicted in the best way and the only words running through my head were simply: “I love theatre”. – Tahlia

We get easily into it and we feel the struggle from every character. Time flies and that’s what you want. The venue is small which makes it friendly and easy to connect. Covid-19 measures of safety are respected and the staff is welcoming. – Aurore

An excellent script – devoid of cliches and easy answers. It probed the characters and the questions from many levels and left the audience with complex, rich refections – on so many things. – Betty

I left the show with a profound feeling of weight and hope at the same time. Very timely production. – Ryan

An intelligent, thought-provoking & riveting play! I can always count on Pacific Theatre to provide entertainment that has a moral compass but also allows an audience member to make one’s own choice regarding the interpretation of the theme. Conversations, post-production, will always arise! – Heather

So good to be back at a PT performance and this one was well worth the wait. A small cast who all gave stellar performances, and I was drawn into the story from the very beginning. As always, I am in awe of the way the set and lighting designers can transform that small space so that we feel we are really a part of the action. And of course, the subject matter is always thought-provoking and makes one examine assumptions and how one “sees” the world from one’s own perspective. We enjoyed the post-performance discussion, but found it a bit of a challenge to hear some of the discussion as we were sitting at the back and there were no mikes being used. We can’t wait to get our tickets for the 22/23 season – Pacific Theatre never disappoints! – Trudi

Pacific Theatre never fails to amaze me with its brave choices – which is why I always feel confident when buying a ticket that my money and time will be well-spent! “How The World Began” was no exception. I quickly became absorbed, and was surprised when it was over; the fastest 90 minutes ever! – Lynne

Pacific Theatre stuns again. This play is a vice of conversation – you will get locked into it right away and it won’t let you go. It’s less about the science class debate and more about how our convictions get deeply rooted – and mistakes we make when trying to communicate with each other. – Sharon
