After seeing Classic Chics stage Glengarry Glenross a couple years ago I was very keen to see Corleone. I went to the opening last night and was not disappointed. Once again the acting was some of the best I’ve seen in Vancouver. Nicole Lipman was compelling as Vito Corleone, particularly in her first scene with Christina Wells Campbell as Luca Brasi. The production did a lot with little. I was originally skeptical of the Shakespeare meets Godfather concept but thought the play was very clever and really enjoyed it. It made sense when I later read in the programme that the playwright has worked with the Guthrie Theatre in Minnesota. I don’t usually do reviews and online comments (this may be my first), but I really think this Classic Chic Productions is a Vancouver gem that deserves our support.

I was very glad I got an opportunity to see this play. It’s definitely the best one I’ve seen at the theatre yet. The acting and story was superb. I was impressed with how well they incorporated Shakespeare into the story. It held my interest all the way through. It felt like it went by so fast it was so engrossing.

Another outstanding performance at Pacific Theatre! This was the first Classic Chic production I’ve seen and it won’t be the last. This was the kind of theatre I love best — a very simple set with extraordinary acting all around.

I echo the reviewer above who says “Nicole Lipman was compelling as Vito Corleone.” Every moment Vito was on the stage I simply couldn’t take my eyes off him/her. The physicality was stunning. Had there not been any script at all, Nicole Lipman’s physical theatre could have carried the play. But of course all the cast were fabulous in their own right.

Bravo to all!

Great acting, but I would have liked to see a lot more humour injected into the script.

It was great! I loved everything about the play. Very unique way of telling the story. Have already recommended Corleone to several friends!

Very nice production. Great job by actors to capture the mood and plot of Godfather. Could have been made to be more humorous. Would have been great as a satire.
