Writer and performer Ins Choi returns to the PT stage to share his songs and stories found at the intersection of his faith and art. Told with whimsy, humour and heart, the creator of Kim’s Convenience riffs on Bible stories, his creative process, and growing up in a Korean church as the only begotten son of the head pastor.

Born in South Korea and raised in Toronto, Choi grew up as the only son of a Korean church pastor, an experience that profoundly shaped his storytelling. He studied theatre at York University and found his artistic voice in Toronto’s Asian Canadian theatre scene, where he first developed Kim’s Convenience. Over the years, he has created and performed a variety of works, including The Subway Stations of the Cross and The KJV: The Bible Show, each weaving together his faith, creativity, and lived experience.
In Son of a Preacherman, Choi takes audiences on an intimate and engaging journey through music, spoken word, and storytelling, reflecting on Bible stories, his creative process, and what it was like growing up in a Korean church. Filled with warmth, wit, and moments of deep reflection, this one-of-a-kind performance is sure to resonate long after the curtain falls.
