Ron founded Pacific Theatre in 1984 after completing his MFA in acting at the California Institute of the Arts. As an actor, he has been nominated for six Jessie Richardson awards for his work in THE SEAFARER, SHADOWLANDS, A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, MOURNING DOVE, GOD’S MAN IN TEXAS, and COTTON PATCH GOSPEL. Other favourite productions include OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, DAMIEN, THE CHRISTIANS, and his one-man adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
Ron has written more than a dozen plays, which have received over sixty productions. BOOK OF THE DRAGON won the Chalmers Canadian Play Award in 1997, and TENT MEETING (a collaboration with Morris Ertman) was nominated for Toronto’s Dora Mavor Moore Award and Edmonton’s Sterling Award. REFUGE OF LIES was produced in New York by Firebone Theatre, and his most recent play, TOLKIEN, is slated for upcoming productions in Minneapolis and San Diego. Ron's memorable Pacific Theatre productions as a director include A BRIGHT PARTICULAR STAR, THE RAINMAKER, DOUBT, COMMON GRACE, and TALLEY'S FOLLY. As Artistic Director, he is particularly gratified by the company's 2011 Jessie Richardson Award, Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for Curation and Execution of an Outstanding Season of Theatre.
